We pride ourselves on our friendly professional pointe shoe fittings in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Our staff are trained by BalletPro (formerly GrishkoUK) and have received further guidance from brands Capezio, Freed of London, Grishko, Gaynor Minden, and Russian Pointe. Most of our knowledge, however, has been gained from experiencing and troubleshooting in-person fittings over the past 10-plus years.

Our experienced fitters will go above and beyond to ensure the perfect fit, including pinpointing any potential problem areas or weakness. We believe it is important to have a correctly fitted shoe, not only to enhance performance but to help prevent injury and long-term damage.

During your fitting, we will assess your foot shape, toe configuration, ankle flexibility, and strength, then try on a large variety of styles until we find the perfect fit to suit your needs.

We converse regularly with dance physios and sports therapists including Know Your Body Injury Clinic (also based at Basepoint) who specialise in injury prevention and injury rehabilitation. They have helped with our understanding of anatomy, the physiological and biomechanical demands of ballet, and discussing injury prevention and prehab/rehabilitation for dancers. As a store, we are continually updating our training so that we are familiar with the latest innovations and expanding our knowledge of the musculoskeletal system.

If you have any injuries, please consult with your dance teacher or doctor before proceeding with a fitting. Please make sure any cuts, blisters, or verrucas are fully healed and ensure toenails are clipped.

What to bring with you:

– Transition/convertible tights or ballet socks
– Your last pair of pointe shoes (if this is not your first fitting)
– Accessories you have been using, i.e. toe pads/toe spacers, etc.

Pointe shoe fittings are by appointment only to avoid disappointment. This allows us to make sure we have adequate staff dedicated to your fitting. Appointments can be made by phone, email, or by messaging us on any of our social media platforms.
